Within five seconds, it feels like we have already witnessed the entire 60 year history of Formula One flash before our eyes. The thing is, we probably have, but the human eye just cannot keep up with what the Beeb is showing us.

Fortunately, that is not the point. The point is to demonstrate how hard it is to slip unnoticed into the sport, apparently. It’s another gravelly deep-voiced narrator for this one and he paints the picture of Red Bulls relatively rapid emergence well.

For any of those that have read my blog posts before now, you may be more than well aware that I am rather strong on my opinions on various things.

Whether we are talking speed cameras, bendy buses or even flying cars, there are not many things that I am not willing to pick apart piece by piece, and suggest an agonisingly painful but obviously effective new alternative.

Ferrari is arguably the biggest motoring brand on the planet and F1 is the pinnacle of motor sport. As a consequence of which the anticipation, speculation and expectation of their new car is always huge.

The Italian press are hot on the case of the Scuderia who haven’t won anything since 2008 and had a dismal season last year only winning one race.

We live in a world of FailBlog and YouTube and because of this, it has invoked in the British public something which the Germans refer to as ‘Schadenfreude’, which roughly translates as pleasure derived from another’s misfortune.

So by this point, you’ve probably guessed where this blog is going. I personally am an A-Z map man, there’s always one in the boot and if I’m going on a journey for which I do not know the way, I have a little look in my handy companion and plan a route.

I know I haven’t written on here in a while now (3 months), and since I missed the Gregorian new year, I thought i’d make sure I wish you guys a happy Chinese new year!

I’m not Chinese, but do take an interest in other cultures and a new year is always a cause for celebration! This year is the year of the dragon; some people believe the year in which you were born plays a part in what type of person you will grow up to be, like a horoscope.

First off, I’d like to wish everybody a very happy new year - hopefully it will be even better than 2011; the latest creations of the world’s car makers certainly look very promising.

I was expecting 2012 to be a dreadful year for the car, with everyone so worried about fuel consumption and emissions instead of style and a good drive, but after seeing some previews of what’s coming up things don’t seem so bad.
