Some people may have read the recent announcement of Ben Edwards replacing Martin Brundle as the BBC’s primary Formula One commentator and wondered who we he was.

But most motorsport fans have been aware of Edwards for a while now – he has commentated on the British Touring Car Championship for a decade and has also commentated on pretty much every other British racing series as well as the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport from 2005 to 2009 for Sky.

So after much deliberation on my part I decided to complete the Pass Plus course. I won’t talk about all the six modules I completed, instead I’ll just focus on the two I enjoyed the most, motorway driving and driving in the country.

The Pass Plus is made up of six modules. These are town driving, out of town driving, motorway driving, dual carriageway driving, all weather driving and dark driving.

Ford has fallen on hard times in terms of financial restructuring and internal politics prevalent in cooperate America.

The former brought about by sky rocketing oil prices meaning their fuel guzzling SUVs and pick-up trucks are no longer as lucrative. In addition mostly Americans prefer those colossal SUV’s.

To say Chris Bangle is a man who thinks beyond the event horizon of car design will be a complement I’m sure he is well deserving of.

It is no wonder that his tenure with the Bavarian manufacturer were one of the most profitable for the marquee. Before Mr Bangle parted ways with BMW he did create a concept vehicle unlike no other before or since.

There are cars that define an era and even a generation. Volkswagen has the distinction of owning two cars that have done so since their foray into the car manufacturing. First there is the Beetle probably the most famous car of the 20th Century. Then there is the Camper (aka the Kombi or Transporter) a car that equally took off and made the Volkswagen brand, a worldwide phenomenon. After all, those who are old enough, remember that the hippie generation and this car were essentially inseparable.
