If paying higher prices at the dealerships doesn’t appeal there is always the option to buy privately. The seller on the street or at home has no large overheads like your local dealer. This means costs will be lower.
Even though there are the benefits of lower prices buying privately there is treble the risk. Sellers will try and off load cars on the private market that are stolen, written off or are still on finance. But don’t let this put you off! If you are sensible and cover your back you will be able to find a bargain that suits your needs.
Be aware of the following:
- You have less legal come back than you do buying from a dealer.
- Checks that dealers carry out by law are not compulsory in a private sale.
- You wont get a warranty or free insurance like main dealers offer.
- Part ex's are rarely considered, thus having to sell your old car yourself.
Make sure you carry out a Vehicle Data Check
