It was a choice for me between and Alfa Romeo and a cheapish BMW. To be honest I went for the Alfa Romeo just to be a bit different but I regret doing so now. BMWs have got a great reputation - unlike their drivers - and this reputation is well-deserved. Alfa Romeos have a bad reputation and from my experience with the 155 I now think this is deserved, too.

I had my 155 for 5 years and at first I was really pleased with it. It was very well kitted out. Driver's airbag and alloy wheels, ABS which was less of a standard thing at the time. It certainly looks cool, which is why I eventually decided to go for it over the BMW.

However, it is completely unreliable and the performance isn't half what I expected. The car has given me no end of trouble. I won't go into too much detail. Think of a potential problem with a car. This one had that problem. I also found it to be frankly a little sluggish. Should've gone with something German after all.
