AUDI COUPE GT 2dr (1985)

Bargain second hand

I got this at 100k miles a few months ago, wanting to do it up. I haven't done much to it yet, just fitted in some new wiring for a stereo including an iphone hookup in the glove box. People don't realise how easy this is to do, no need to get a new car for it! Actually I reckon older cars are easier to do these sorts of jobs on. With newer cars the wiring isn't so straightforward, it's all circuitboards and on board computers.

This Audi Coupe seems to have been well looked after, got a good service history and I bought it off a couple who were getting a smaller car after their kids had moved out. I've been driving it probly a bit faster than they ever did, and I've already broken a couple of things lol, nothing serious just a knock to the tracking and a suspension tweak needing doing. I suppose I'll need to be a bit more careful with it until I've done the bigger work on it that I've planned.

It's a bit rude on the petrol when I'm driving it for laughs, probly needs to be driven a bit more carefully but that might just be a problem I live with hehe.. I could get it retuned but I dunno if that would pay off really.

There are some other electrical problems going on here and there. Every few weeks the battery goes flat for some reason. There must be a short somewhere and I'll find it when I'm doing this project on the car, but I spose for a non technically minded owner this could be an annoying a potentially costly problem.

What I love about the Audi Coupe, and the reason I got it, is how well it corners and handles and generally growls. The engine sounds disgusting at one level, but at the same time it's also got this awesome note that I couldn't find anywhere else on my budget.

I reckon the Audi Coupe these days is probably best for a car nerd like me or for someone with a good local old Audi specialist garage cos things are probly going to go wrong at this age.
