Cadillac Seville - Needs too much petrol

We had to get rid of our Cadillac Seville in the end, it was just taking too much petrol to get around. It was when my husband got a new job involving a 40 mile daily commute, not that much really but the petrol bills soon stacked up. That was a shame really because it had been such a comfy and reliable family car until then.

My husband always loved the noise as well, the Cadillac Seville is quite a small car to have such a big chunky engine. He would always chant along with the kids "V8! V8! V8!". I don't think this is really helping the kids with their thinking about cars... anyway we've switched now so maybe they'll forget.

From what I remember, although it was powerful and really comfortable, it felt a bit clumsy sometimes. I mean it didn't really handle all that confidently at speed. There were a few times when I needed to make a sudden move because something unexpected happened, and it didn't feel all that 100% in control. I might be remembering the details wrong, but I suppose what I mean is that it has quite strict limits about what it can handle, and those need to be got used to.

Another problem was that warning lights would often come on, even though nothing was actually wrong. We just learnt to forget about that after a while, but kind of annoying at the time. I mean the ironic thing was that it was actually a really reliable car.

The biggest repair was some part of the suspension, and that was another awkward shock, the cost of getting those, including shipping in the from the states (we shopped around for the part ourselves).

But the biggest problem was petrol. Sad really as the Cadillac Seville was a lovely car in other ways.
