FORD COUGAR 2.5 V6 24V 3dr (1998)

The rare and charismatic Ford Cougar

Ford's Cougar is a very rare sight on UK roads, partly because it was relatively expensive for Ford and mostly because it flopped. Like the Probe before it, the Cougar just didn't appeal to the typical Ford buyer - but that doesn't mean it's not a good car.

I bought one because it was cheap for what it was; a 2.5-litre V6 for under 6 grand? Come-on! The styling isn't for everyone and the interior is a bit '90s, but the rest of the car is spot on. It's basic but well-made, exciting but calm and economical but not at all boring.

There's ample room inside for humans, the boot is spacious and the kids will enjoy the 'sporty' look that the Cougar delivers. If you're after a budget coupe that is a very rare sight, then take a test drive.
