FORD GALAXY 1.8 TDCi Zetec 5dr (2006)

Ford Galaxy Zetec - no end of trouble.

Bought a Galaxy Zetec about three years ago with 50,000 odd miles on the clock. We were really happy with it for a couple of years. It has great fuel economy, drives well, looks good, plenty of room, very practical, etc. However last year we started to have a few problems which have really changed my view on the Ford Galaxy.

Firstly the drive shaft and gearbox went, then when we finally got these sorted (very poor stock of Galaxy parts around) the electrics started playing up. Wipers, central locking, lights, all started playing up one after another, absolute nightmare. I feel cheated really because we paid good money for the car and have ended up paying so much servicing it.

At the end of the day I think the Galaxy is just badly built. You can tell when you’re inside, too, because the cabin feels pretty flimsy. Get yourself a German car. A shame really because without these problems it would be almost perfect.
