HYUNDAI ELANTRA 1.6 GSi 5dr (2001)

Hyundai Elantra- surprisingly great!

I was thoroughly unconvinced by my wife's pleas that we buy a Hyundai - I could hardly even pronounce the name and to be honest I'm not entirely sure where South Korea is. However, I'm glad that her whining finally paid off because it turns out that the Hyundai Elantra is really a pretty good car.

The motor we got had apparently had a few problems before we bought it. The clutch had been replaced after relatively few miles and the paint was starting to flake off. However, since we bought our Elantra there has been virtually no problems with it whatsoever and this is one of the things that makes it great.

The performance is surprisingly nippy and the engine carries the bulk of the car along pretty happily. The handling is just lovely, really precise and rewarding. It's practical, sensible, and a good choice. So much so that I'm even letting the wife choose our holiday this year, too. I suggested Korea ;)
