HYUNDAI GETZ 1.1 CDX 5dr (2002)

Hyundai Getz - A bit shaky when pushed but really an excellent little car

What I mean by shaky is that it's not a racer, so don't try and slam it into corners or veer madly around tight country lanes. It's not designed for that and it won't like it. The Hyundai Getz is just a cosy and reliable, and most of all economical way to get (getz!) from A to B. No fuss, no mess, no breakdowns or costly repairs, just smooth motoring. I love it and I'll greatly miss it when it's gone. Not that it's showing any signs of decline so car. I've just recently topped 100 thousand miles in it, and it's really driving almost like the day I bought it. It feels like it's lost a little bit of oomph over the years, but compare that to some of the horror stories out there and I think I've had the best of it.

Also pleasing how fast the Hyundai Getz goes and how confidently, for a small car. I can sit at 80 happily enough, and it always feels like it could go quite a bit faster if you wanted to.

Other things on the car are sort of a load of things that are quite simple when you think about it, but just things that a lot of other cars manage to get very wrong. Like the power steering just works really well, isn't too light or too heavy, doesn't tug to one side, just works nicely. The electric windows and central locking always do their job, I've heard countless stories from other people about those going wrong on other cars.

The space as well, really a massive tardis inside the Hyundai Getz. I regularly do golf trips with three friends and we get all our gear in no problem. Well the visibility in the back is impaired a bit, but the windows are so big anyway I can still see perfectly safely. The back seats fold forwards towards the front seats, which could have been better thought out as it doesn't give the best space if you wanted to fit something bulky in there. That's really my only gripe.

Air conditioning as well, so it's not stingy on luxuries really, I mean for a basic car like this. Really you could do a whole lot worse.
