JEEP WRANGLER 2.5 Sport 2dr (1994)

Jeep Wrangler - Doing well for 15 years old!

I admit I got this as a bit of a daft boys toy, but it wasn't without some research into it. The Jeep Wrangler Sport has a long history dontcha know! Wartime heritage and all that. Anyway it wasn't just some blurry nostalgia that made me buy it, I really liked the idea of a no frills, all muscle, cheap and cheerful off roader, and it's got all that in spades. What's more I haven't had hardly any mechanical problems with it, there just isn't all that much to go wrong!

It's had the odd thing like there was a thing with the radiator once but that might have been when I, er... sort of knocked into a lampost. Less said about that the better. I think it's got a slight oil leak but I just haven't had that looked at yet, should be fixable easy enough. It's just a dead simple but strong motor. Reminds me of that bit in Lock Stock, 'what's in the car?' 'seats and a steering wheel'.. lol that's about the size of it.

When I use the Wrangler off road it's everything I want it to be. It's really capable, takes on absolutely any terrain without a complaint at all. Put it in thick mud, it gets out. Chuck it in a river, it gets out. Just seems to pull something out to get it moving in any conditions. During the 'harsh winter' last year it didn't grumble at all, totally solid.

My ex wife has some sort of little egg car that seems popular these days, and I just dont get the appeal. Like the dashboard looks like a bit curvy whoosh of pointless buttons and stuff, and you can't even balance anything on the top of the dashboard without it falling off cos it's at a stupid angle. Compare the Wrangler and all that silliness goes away. Every buttons has its place, more right angles than curves, the dashboard is actually a useful *flat* space to put things.

It's cool the way the boot door splits too, the bottom half opens sideways and the top flips up, so you can easily access stuff without opening the boot completely. The only bother about the back of the Wrangler is that the back seats don't have head rests, which is a bit of a worry now that the kids have got tall enough for it to be a problem. That's the single and only thing that makes me wanna sell it on at some point. That and the fuel costs I suppose, it's a bit of a guzzler. Good times, though, good times, no hassle and plenty of muscle.
