Kia Sedona CRDi - The sliding doors are a menace
It's so sad about this car, it would be so good if it weren't for the ridiculously unmanageable sliding doors down the sides. They work on a motor, they're not manually opened and closed. That sounds like a good idea on paper, and when we bought it (new) we'd seen reviews saying how cool this was, but the reviewers hadn't driven it for more than a day!
They just basically they just don't work. They won't open sometimes, and then other times they'll open all by themselves, even a couple of times while we've been driving!!! Thankfully the kids weren't in the back but that's just an awful problem to have with the car, I want to get rid of our Kia Sedona as soon as poss now really.
Now, let's be a bit more generous. Perhaps it's just our one, or maybe Kia will develop some sort of fix for this (or maybe there is a fix that we haven't been told about). If you can sort out the electric sliding doors then the Sedona would be a really really fantastic family car.
The space inside is just absolutely ginormous, easy to just lose people inside! It doesn't actually look all that huge from outside, but it really is just HUGE when you get in there. That's only inside though, somehow it's also quite small on the outside, easy enough to drive around I mean, for parking and other tight moves. The seats in the Sedona can all be removed completely which gives you pretty much a van. We used that once to help my sister move her business between offices, and it swallowed up all sorts. I'll never forget the huge desk she had which it just happily gobbled up with room to spare.
I suppose the down side of the seats is that they do actually have to be removed from the car completely, so you need a garage or plenty of space to have car seats hanging about. They do fold down in the car itself, but not particularly usefully, its just the backs of the seats that fold down so they still get in the way quite a bit. Still, all the seats are nice and comfy even on longer trips. There's all sorts of cubby holes and things for keeping stuff in...... just those doors that let it down!
