OPEL MANTA 2.0 GT/E 3dr (1983)

The Opel Manta, a forgiving mistress!

A kind of obscure old car this, I liked to put mine through its paces on a private race track and I got my Opel Manta GT/E up to well over 120mph. The car looks pretty great to me, like a Nissan Skyline or something, and it was very reliable until quite frankly I started asking too much of it.

I did about 150,000 miles in my Opel Manta but then it started to fall apart a bit, with a lot of mould and rusting, but I still class it as pretty reliable because it never let me down and I put it through some serious work. The steering is the most impressive aspect and it really suits a curving track and a good race.

The Opel Manta engine is powerful and all round it's a force to be reckoned with. You can do pretty much whatever you like to this car and it will forgive you until the end. I loved it and I was very sad to see it go!
