ROVER CITYROVER 1.4 Select 5dr (2003)

The Rover CityRover - a severe disappointment

Without wanting to do a disservice to a classic British brand - what's wrong with Rover? I haven't followed the company for a while and I know they had a few decent cars a few decades ago, and it was this Britishness and generally good reputation that led me to buy a Rover CityRover. But I regret being so shallow and naive!

There are a couple of good things about the CityRover so I'll get them out the way. Firstly, it's very spacious: both in the seats and in the boots. Secondly, it's quite nippy, and can get around the city faster than many other similar cars. Thirdly, it's cheap.

However, the build quality is very poor. The drive is horrible, sludgy, and boring. The CityRover interior is a little tacky and plasticy and the seats are remarkably uncomfortable. The fuel efficiency is also shockingly bad for this type of car. Inexplicable oversights on Rover's behalf. All-round not worth buying.
