SEAT AROSA 1.0 S 3dr (2000)

Great first time car.

This was the first car I bought after passing my test. The main reason for buying this car was the cost. It was cheap to buy and tax and as far as insurance goes it was the cheapest I found even cheaper than a Corsa or a Micra. Giving that it only had a 1 litre engine and did around 55mpg fuel costs didn’t break the bank either. So its main positive is the all-round low running costs. Another positive is the space in the car as I am pretty tall I did struggle to find a car that I could fit comfortably into but the Arosa isn’t one of them. The Arosa has loads of head and leg room considering that it is a small car. This car is also only a 4 seater which means rear passengers get their own individual seat which I liked until I tried to fit in the back and my knees ended up at my chin.

I never had any massive reliability issues with this car; however in cold weather it could be a bit temperamental and would occasionally need a push start to get it going in the morning. Another flaw with the car is that you needed to remove the entire front bumper to change the headlight bulbs. Boot space is another place where the car lacks as its pretty much none existent.

As it’s only a 1litre I did expect it to be underpowered and underpowered it was, and if the car was full it really struggled. Driving on my own on the motorway wasn’t too bad it happily went along at 70mph although it was quite noisy. Overall this car is great for a first time buyer for a year or two to help build a no claims bonus.
