VOLVO S70 2.0 10V 4dr (1996)

The Volvo S70 - A true Scandinavian sports car

Well I wanted to buy a sports car (you could call it a mid-life crisis I suppose) but I didn't want to go all-out so I decided to stick with Volvo. Not exactly a sports car but still 'sporty'. This Volvo S70 model is not what you might expect from Sweden as it can really perform. But it still has the reliability and safety that I've come to expect from the Volvo brand.

I managed to take this round a track once so I'll assess it as a sports car even though this might be slightly unfair as it's obviously designed for road/family use. It accelerates well and can hit some very impressive speeds. But at those top-end speeds it didn't exactly want to do what I told it, the handling let it down a little. I expected a little more from it to be honest as Volvo marketed it as a rival to the German cars.

The other thing I noticed was the noise! It really can get noisy inside which isn't something I noticed on other models. However I'm being too harsh here: it's a fantastic car, and if you don't push it too far it really feels like a top-end BMW, but at nothing like the price. A luxury car for a reasonable amount.
