VOLVO V90 3.0 5dr [180bhp] (1996)

The Volvo V90 - a very practical car.

I like my Volvo V90 a lot. My wife says it looks like I'm driving a hearse around. And now it's getting older it I agree it's not the most beautiful car going. But it's faithful and practical so what more do I need? Looks aren't everything, you know. Volvo don't make these any more and the V70 which replaces it is frankly inferior.

I'm an odd-jobs man so I usually have a lot of stuff in my car and the Volvo V90 is the closest thing I can get to a van without actually buying one. The boot space really is immense. It's even bigger than it looks from the outside. And no matter how much stuff I've got in the boot the 3.0l engine chugs along happily and never lets me down. She'll go up to about 130mph if pushed, not that I've ever needed to go that fast or anything.

For such a big car, the Volvo V90 running costs are quite good, too. It's only fair to compare it to a van, really, and on those terms the Volvo V90 is very reasonable. It handles very well, in my opinion: sensible, forgiving, and I'd say safe, too. All-round this is a really practical car for anyone who needs one.
