Car insurance considerations
17/12/2009
Say ‘car insurance’ to most motorists and they’ll groan about the cost of it and how hard it is to find it! Certainly, while buying insurance for your car isn’t the most exciting thing in the world, it is a legal requirement for anyone who has a vehicle on UK roads. The good news is however that getting the most suitable cover at the right price doesn’t have to be an effort!
Automatically renewing
You may be one of those motorists who automatically renew their car insurance without giving it any extra thought. However while you may have got a good deal on your car cover when you took it out last year or the year before that, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll get a good deal this time around. Insurers don’t always reward you for your loyalty to them. So it can make sense to shop around to see what else is going on in the motor insurance marketplace before you automatically renew with your current insurer.
Time
You may think that shopping around for car cover will take a lot of time. But looking for the right insurance for your car no longer necessitates lots of phone calls to brokers or worn out shoe leather as you trudge up and down your local High Street visiting banks and brokers. The internet has made looking for car cover so much easier, potentially giving you access to lots of attractive policies.
There are websites that enable you to search for multiple motor insurance policies simply from completing a short form. You enter a few details and then the results will be displayed. This means that you have a choice of motor cover where you can compare the price as well as the terms and conditions.
Buying online may also see you enjoy a discount on the cost (typically 10%) as well as being able to take advantage of special offers for new customers. This means that by shopping around, you could end with better cover at a lesser price!
So, when your car insurance renewal next drops through the post, don’t just automatically renew it, shop around! It won’t take long and it may save you money!
