Toyota and Tesla are now best mates as the former has bought a £35m stake in the latter. The deal will allow further research and production into future electric car technology.

Tesla will now take control of the recently closed down Toyota factory in sunny California, which has the ability to create 500,000 cars each year. The electric sports car enthusiast plans capitalise on the deal and build its Model S saloon.

The two companies will join forces to share knowledge and expertise in the field of electric motor technology and will develop new and exciting ‘green’ gadgets in the near future.
