Porsche 918 hybrid set to go into production
21/03/2011
Remember the incredible Porsche 918 hybrid concept at last year’s Geneva Motor Show? Sure you do, after all, it stole the show due to its looks and promised performance. Well, Porsche has announced that they will be putting the 918 hybrid into production in 2013 – for just £700,000.
Only 918 examples will be made, and Porsche has insisted that the hybrid powertrain will remain. That means a 500bhp V8 will be mated to two 218bhp electric motors – sounds green, doesn’t it?
Performance will be very reasonable – with 0-62mph taken care of in just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 199mph.
So, if you’re super-duper rich, like Porsches and want to save the South-American rat-faced bat, then here’s your car.
