496bhp Audi A1 ready for a fight

Audi’s A1 is about the same size as a MINI; it’s small, light and great for city driving. Someone at Audi, however, realised there was an issue – and it was to do with power. So, what did they do? They gave the tiny A1 a 496bhp five-pot engine that can tackle 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds – or quicker than a Porsche Carrera GT and McLaren SLR.
Don’t get too excited, though, as the A1 Clubsport Quattro – as Audi are calling it – is a one off to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the annual meet at Worthersee, Austria. Think of this car, then, in the same light as the VW Golf W12 we saw a few years ago. It’s never going to make production, but its ridiculous power, incredible looks and supercar-beating performance are enough to fantasise.
