Audi has finally announced details of its new A8 hybrid – and we’re just thrilled. Hybrids have become big business for car manufacturers over the past few years and now Audi wants a slice of the action. The business-jet A8 will get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol motor combined with an electric motor to boost economy to 44mpg.

Also, the A8 hybrid will produce just 148g/km of CO2 – confirming the A8 hybrid as the most efficient model in the range. Power isn’t too bad, either: with 242bhp on tap and a 0-62mph time of 7.7 seconds; the A8 will be able to hold its own against most big saloons.
