Lotus’ ambitions of pushing several new models to market may just come to reality as the government has granted the company a £10 million imbursement. The company was initially looking for £27m from its parent company Proton, and it did seem that Lotus would struggle to secure the backing, but after this announcement from the government, all seems well for the Norwich-based car manufacturer.
"This is great news for all those concerned about Group Lotus moving production overseas, to say that we're pleased with the result would be an understatement," said Group Lotus CEO, Dany Bahar.
"This funding will play a role in assisting with the realisation of our business plan to produce a new range of sports cars with best in class performance and emissions."
It’s another step in the right direction for Lotus who are enjoying healthy sales of the Evora and Exige.
