ML63 AMG will destroy your supercar… and wallet
15/11/2011
Mercedes-Benz has announced a new widow-maker dubbed the AMG ML 63. It’s basically a standard ML that has been breathed on by AMG – who are effectively the SAS of the engine tuning world. The new ML 63 features a very economical 5.5-litre biturbo V8 engine with a green 518bhp and more torque than every superbike on the Moto GP grid.
Ok, so I’m lying; it isn’t economical. In truth, it’s a bit of a binge drinker, with combined mpg figures of just 23.9 – which is sobering, to say the least. However, this doesn’t matter, because all I care about is the performance, and thankfully, it is very impressive. 0-62mph comes up in just 4.8 seconds – think M5 levels of acceleration – and it has to be physically restrained at 155mph.
Basically, imagine doing light speed in a Sherman tank, and that’s what it’d be like to put your foot down in a ML 63. If you want one it’ll cost around £70,000 and take a lot of balls to drive around in something so Chelsea-ish that even those Made In Chelsea ‘stars’ would think twice about driving one.
