Honda green lights Mugen CR-Z

01/12/2011

The long-awaited ‘hot’ version of Honda’s brilliant hybrid coupe, the CR-Z, has finally been given the green light. The Mugen CR-Z will benefit from Mugen’s extensive tuning experience and technology. The basic CR-Z puts out around 115bhp, which was fine in 1989, but for 2011 it’s not really enough. And that’s where Mugen come in.

The tuners have boosted power to just under 200bhp, which should mean that the Mugen CR-Z will hit 0-62mph in just 6.1 seconds – which is quick in any language. There’s more good news, too; as Honda has confirmed the price will be just £23,000, which is a good £5,000 less than Toyota’s new GT 86 coupe.

This is your bargain hot-coupe for 2012, then.
