Calling all MINI Cooper S and John Cooper Works drivers: your hot hatch could well be a fire-risk! That’s right; BMW are recalling almost 250,000 of the aforementioned MINI models worldwide thanks to a potentially dodgy circuit board on the car’s turbocharger’s water pump, which, in a extreme cases, could start a fire.
The cars affected were built from March 2006 to January 2011; so if you’ve got one, we recommend hopping down to your dealer and get it fixed!
This is the first real hit to its reputation MINI has had to contend with since its re-launch back in the early parts of the 2000s, but will it affect the continued sales of any of the MINI range? Time will tell on that one, but one thing is for sure; recalls are usually bad for business.
