When Audi announced its baby A1 would be given the hot-hatch treatment, we were all very happy. The UK’s motoring enthusiasts got together and had a celebratory bottle of champagne, doves filled the air and the smell of engine oil floated from town-to-town; it was a big moment. And then Audi said we weren’t getting any.

The 333 A1 Quattros would not be coming anywhere near our shores… this angered our hot-hatch-loving drivers. So much so, in fact, that Audi has seemingly crumbled under the pressure and said that 20 of the 333 will be coming to the UK, albeit still in left-hand-drive.

Who cares about what side the steering wheel is on, though, as the A1 Quattro has 252bhp and a 0-62mph time of just 5.7 seconds. And with that Quattro system on-board, you’ll be sure of being able to utilise all of those 252 ponies. Expect prices to be around £26/27k.
