Follow the tips below to make sure you get yourself a good deal on your car insurance.

Top tips to reduce insurance premiums

  • Buy over the internet and you could save money.
  • Fit insurance approved anti-theft devices to your vehicle.
  • Insure all your cars with the same company and you may get a multi-car discount.
  • Some insurance companies offers discounts for taking out home and motor insurance.
  • Check the insurance group of any new car you are considering buying. Groups run from 1 to 20 with group 1 being the cheapest to insure.
  • If your insurance company offers a voluntary excess, choose the highest you can afford. This can reduce your premium.
  • Ask about discounts for Advanced Driving qualifications. Visit the Institute of Advanced Motorists www.iam.org.uk for more information.
  • Check with your insurance company before making any modifications to your car; they could mean forfeiting low cost car insurance.
  • Be careful not to lose your No Claim Discount. It makes a huge difference to premiums
  • Garaging your car can reduce premiums considerably.
  • If applicable ask for discounts for older drivers. Some companies design low cost policies specifically for the over 50s.
