I would offer a word of warning before saying how simply brilliant the Bentley Continental GT really is. My word of warning is to make sure that if you buy new, you get one with a proper service history and ideally not too many miles on the clock.
The reason is that although I've found the Bentley Continental GT to be massively reliable, I know that it is possible to ruin one. There is a reason that the service cost is so high, they really do a lot of work to keep it running as tip top as possible, and I think if someone pushed the boat out buying a Bentley Continental GT and then found they couldn't afford the ongoing costs, then they might try to cut corners. They might also have failed to drive it much on account of the high petrol costs, which can't be good for any car.
Those warnings aside, the Bentley Continental GT is simply a phenomenal car. The power available is almost beyond belief. I very seldom really put my foot down these days, but when I need to overtake in a real hurry it's never lacking in power. For a car that is so heavy that speaks volumes about the sheer amount of muscle under the bonnet.
Perhaps another 'warning' is that it's completely silent inside. A lot of cars boast silence inside the cabin, but I've driven my fair share of BMWs and Audis etc with ridiculous drafts owing to poor seals and general bodywork glitches. The Bentley Continental GT is SILENT, as in you'll be unsure as to whether you've turned the engine on. It's also tricky if you're used to taking your cues from hearing what other cars around you are doing. You need to be more visually aware. The sheer luxury of silent driving is without compare though, well worth adjusting to. The visibility itself is not all that great, the rear blind spots especially can be quite daunting. Just take your time getting used to it all, the pleasure is well worth it.
The space and luxury inside is second to none. The seats are beyond armchair comfort, you just dissolve into them. The boot is a very good size, also sensibly proportioned, easy for four people's luggage.
Hi, I have a Bentley Contintenal GT and I've owned it for 5 years now. It was my first really expensive car and I'm pleased to say, it didn't disappoint. I think it still looks fresh and modern, even nearly a decade after it was released, and yet it still manages to keep its Bentley-ness.
Inside, there's tons of dead cows and chopped down trees. It's one of the most luxurious cars on the planet, yet can carry four and a couple of golf clubs in 200mph speed. It's a really fantastic car.
The engine is its best feature, though. A 6.0-litre W12 monster that can do 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 198mph. It is hugely and immensly powerful.
Yes, I'm a girl, and I own a Bentley Continental GT - girls can love cars too, right? Anyway, I love my Continental GT. It's easily the most luxurious car I've even been in, and with its uniquely positive stance down the road, the 4x4 system allows you to feel where the grip is mid-corner - oh yes, a girl who knows what she's talking about.
I've taken the GT to Santa Pod a few times and been surprised by the results. Make no mistake, this is a quick car. With a 6.0-litre W12 engine, it can make light work of most 911s, and trust me, there's nothing better than seeing a man get beat by a girl.
The only real negative is how much it costs to run. Insurance is ridiciulous, and with the current price of fuel, it cripples me every time I go to the pumps.
If you can afford one, I recommend it hole heartedly.
