My parents wanted a new car and said I could have their old Leganza, so I could hardly say no really. It was that or spaff all my savings on a car.
The Daewoo Leganza is a blatant old person car, and I get enough stick from my mates for that, but I'm laughing when they try to shove five people in a Clio and I'm cruising around with five people and a load of stuff in the boot with plenty of space to spare.
It's also more confident and chilled out on motorways. Boy racers like to think they're all that round town with their stupid stereos but if their car is shaking about and blowing around in the wind on the straight then that's another win for the Daewoo Leganza, thank you very much.
Thing is it's a big car, so unless you drive really slow it drinks petrol madly. It's ok but I like to get where I'm going so it's tricky to balance the two.
Actually I think my parents put me in this position on purpose, a free car that I can't really modify to look cool, and I can't really speed in without costing myself a ton in fuel. Clever, cunning..
Dad said that Daewoo had some sort of change of owners or change of servicing (or both) and that older cars like the Leganza aren't getting any attention anymore, so he found a specialist about 30 miles away who does all the servicing and things. I go to them, and they seem fine. I suppose there are specialists like that all over, so just hunt one out.
Other problem: turning circle. Madness. I'm a new driver so parallel parking is difficult anyway, but in the Daewoo Leganza is impossible. Again, I reckon this is my parents thinking it'll prepare me well for other cars. Can't fault their logic, but damn it is a pain.
