Ford Fusion 1.4 TDCi Style 5dr [Climate] (2005)
We got this for the fuel economy and it's been nice and reliable

We had experience of Ford before, and the Fusion TDCi Style seemed a good bet for us. Our kids are grown up now so we mostly want a car for shopping and occasional family trips, or taking the grandkids to the pictures. The Ford Fusion ticked all the boxes for us, topped off with getting over 60 miles to the gallon on diesel, which is good. We were apprehensive about the noise of a diesel, but it turned out this was quite an out-dated idea as our diesel is anything but noisy. We also wanted something with a relatively high seating position as my husband finds that helps with his hips. The Ford Fusion has higher than normal seats, which are also reasonably supportive. This has the added bonus of being able to see over traffic a lot of the time. Another thing about the high position, and the tall windows, is that it's very easy to see all around, good for overtaking and parking and so on. For a diesel it's also quite powerful. We don't tend to challenge the car much, but with things like hills and when we're towing a trailer it's very capable indeed. We haven't really had any problems to report with our Ford Fusion. It's had a new tyre, that's about it. There's the tiniest squeak from the door hinge, but hardly noticeable really. With towing the trailer, that's usually when we're going camping, or perhaps having a car boot. On those occasions we usually have the back seats down as well, to store things in the back, and actually that has sometimes removed the need for the trailer. The back of the Ford Fusion is extremely big with the seats down, and actually the boot is surprisingly large with them up. The only problem is that the back seats don't fold down completely flat, which is a nice feature that I've see on some other cars.
