Ford Streetka 1.6i Luxury 2dr (2003)
Lots of fun to drive, quite a few repairs needed

I do love the look of the Streetka, it's like a focus and a porsche had a baby! It's super fun to drive as well, so nippy around little spaces and gets really fast nice and quickly. I go along the motorway at 80-90 without any trouble at all, it's really happy to bomb along at those speeds. I mostly love that it was so cheap for such a speedy nippy fun little car. The clutch is much easier than the Yaris I used to have, altho it's not really as easy to see out of all round. Obviously it's only 2 seats so no good if you've got kids or whatever, but for two it's just fine. Comfy enough for long journeys really. Me and my sister went to see our cousins in London (about 200 miles?) and that was fine really. The best thing about it is driving with the roof down, wooooooshh!! Love it, really love it. And we took all our luggage for a few days (two girls, lots!) and the boot took it all, plus the prezzies we got when we were there. Driving with the roof up can take a bit of getting used to, but fine really, it's just quite hard to see out the back and sides. It's really not fun in winter though, you need to dress up warm to drive it! It also had a lot of problems starting up in winter. The costs have been a bit of a bummer with it. It's nice and cheap to buy but I don't think the amount of petrol it uses is much good for this size car. My old Yaris certainly outdid the Streetka for that. Same story for tax and insurance too unfortunately. It makes quite a bit of noise on the motorway as well. Part of that is down to the thin roof but it's also the body of the car just seems to rattle quite a bit. Some other bits are kind of shaky about the car, like the heating seems to make the stereo cut off! Don't put the roof down when it's icey either, I tried that (easier to clean with the roof down) and it nearly snapped something. The main problem really has been the repairs it keeps needing, I really didn't expect that from Ford, and really the Streetka has let me down quite a bit in that way. I've got all the receipts. It's had a thermostat need doing, the starter motor, then the alternator died too. There was a head gasket problem last year, and the engine control system needed sorting too. It's had other stuff too that is sort of 'normal' but seems to happen too often, like tracking and exhaust and things. Some of this lot was done inside the warranty but I'm thinking the repairs will keep happening, if not get worse now, so I might have to get rid of it soon. So sad!!
