Hyundai I10 1.1 Comfort 5dr (2008)
Almost as bog standard as they come - and all the better for it

It may be obvious, but I got this car because it was cheap, the other rivals were pushing the budget so I thought I'd give Hyundai a go. The thing I love is the space that it offers considering it is such a small car. The one thing is noticeable about the cabin is that it is very plain; but I only wanted something cheap, I was never after anything fancy so in that respect, it does the job well. As I say, I wanted fairly cheap and no hassle, in this respect, the Hyundai i10 pretty much delivers, it was cheap to buy and insure and the road tax is nothing to worry about. I usually get 40mpg out of it which could probably be better but the savings I made everywhere else pretty much makes up for this. What this car does really well is manage to be very nippy around town, another reason why I bought one. There's no hiding from the fact that the engine is very small but it does manage to get me around, harsh vibrations seem to kick in on extended motorway journeys of which I have made only very few. The drive isn't supposed to be amazing but it is by all means reasonable. Overall the Hyundai i10 is a great cheap car, don't expect anything special, as long as you bear this in mind, it shouldn't disappoint.

Hyundai I10 1.2 Classic 5dr (2009)
Hyundai i10 Review

First things first, my Hyundai i10 is a great little runner, lots of fun to dodge around the lanes, and also has plenty of power (for me at least) on motorways and generally. That said, it's had a few repairs needing that seem like problems in the factory, which isn't something to give you a lot of confidence about how long it'll last all in all. I bought the i10 new by the way. Almost as soon as I got it home it broke down, and the garage took it back, said it was something that wasn't quite sealed properly in the engine or something. Great! There have been a few other little things, like electrical faults and the heater generally taking its time to get going. And the gears are a bit tricky but then I knew about that in fairness when I test drove it. Anyway, all that stuff aside, and hoping that it'll stay the distance now that this stuff has been fixed, it is a decent little motor. It's impressive how much space there is inside for a little thing like this, and in the back as well. That's what always got me about even relatively big cars, this sort of assumption that only kids are in the back. Mine are late teenagers and bigger than me! It's got three seats in the back too, which are actually usable, which is a big plus over the other small cars out there. Storage space in my Hyundai i10 is good. Little pockets here and there in the cabin. Boot a decent size as well, again surprisingly big for a small car. Seats flip down dead easy for a much bigger boot as well. The boot also has a false floor where you can stash valuables. Otherwise, it's a pretty economical little beast. I don't think I'm quite getting 56mpg like it says in the paperwork, but somewhere near there, maybe high 40s. Tax is cheap too, and insurance.
