Net Cars Need To Know: There's not much that makes us happier than seeing Jaguar at the pointy end of customer satisfaction surveys. Whereas once a used Jag was the dictionary definition of a ruinous money pit, these days the opposite holds true. In fact, shopping for a used Jaguar can often be a more rewarding experience than looking at one of the premium German marques. Not only do you get a lot of car for your money, but the dealers make an effort with used buyers and there's some very good low mileage, often privately-owned stock to choose from rather than the usual fleet hacks. The XF seems as good a starting point as any. Reliability scores have been excellent and £16,000 will buy you a 2008 car with the 2.7-litre turbodiesel engine and a sensible mileage showing. That's mid-range Astra money. The current shape XJ opens at around £34,000 and is a completely beguiling way to travel, but might well be out of the reach of many. A more inclusive used option is the previous shape XJ 2.7-litre turbodiesel. This is what many more mature buyers feel is a classic Jaguar shape and with opening prices for tidy cars hovering around £9,000, I represents a savvy piece of business. The same goes for the XK. Although the latest shape car is undeniably a better vehicle, the older the original shape model gets, the prettier it seems to look. You'd need to have taken a few brave pills to drop £6,000 on an early supercharged XKR coupe, but driving one is an unforgettable experience.

It just blew my middled aged socks off. I've no idea about the mechanics or anything, and really I'd always seen Jaguars as a slightly more sedate make of car, but the Jaguar XFR 5.0 (at least...
We had meant for some time to try out a diesel car, given how they're supposed to be catching up with petrols in terms of performance, and also becoming less noisy dirty beasts. We sized up th...
