Jaguar is going through something of a rejuvination at the moment, which is fine by me. It used to smell a bit funny, looks like old men and be about as cool as mouldy bread, but now, thanks to cars like the XKR, Jag is back on it's game.
We have a 4.2-litre supercharged V8 XKR and it's lovely. With over 400bhp and a low kerb weight, the XKR just loves to accelerate and power through the gears. The engine is, by far and away, the best thing about this car.
It's shocking on fuel and shocking on insurance, but aside from that, I have no bad words for the XK. It's just a pleasure to drive.
If you've ever been in an XK, youll know that Jag were struggling for money at the same. But overall it's pretty good. Lots of nice Jag leather and wood and plenty of switches to keep you occupied for years to come.
Originally I wanted an Aston Martin V8, but after driving it and seeing the reviews, it did leave me a little underwhelmed. And that's when I decided on a Jaguar XKR. It was considerably cheaper than the Aston and just as quick - so why not?
The 4.2.-litre V8 has 400bhp and a supercharger - which really makes it sound and go like nothing else. I struggle to achieve more than 18mpg but I don't care - i didn't buy this car for its economy.
Driving down A-roads, the XKR comes alive. It's suspension copes with any bump or camber I throw at it and the engine always performs - thanks to the 'charger.
If you want excitement every morning and a way to stay feeling young - I give you, the Jaguar XKR.
