Range Rovers don't really need any introduction, do they? We all know what they're about; we all know how good they are. They've been the daddy of a 4x4 for decades and despite BMW's best efforts, it hasn't been beaten yet.
I bought one as a treat as I was given a pay-raise at work, so now Im the proud owner of an 04 Range. Everything about this car screams money. It's as comfortable as anything I've ever been in, as well made as anything I've ever been in and as bad on fuel as anything I've ever been in.
The fuel gauge does drop quite rapidly, and it's a shame, but apart from that I can't really fault it. There's plenty of lovely leather, lots of switches and wood; it just feels nice.
The boot is literally the size of a small elephant and has the load capacity of a small bus. If you've got a big family, the Range will be perfect!!
It's a great car, and I just hope I don't have to get rid of it one day.
OOO the Range Rover. It has, and is still, always been my favourite car on the road. Why? Because it's accessible, good looking and so comfortable you'd be forgiven if you thought you were riding on a cloud.
When I got enough money to buy my Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography, I didn't even hesitate for a moment. The kids don't need to go to university, anyway - only joking,
I went for the V8 engine, as I wanted some power to go with my comfort, and I'm really glad I did. It floats through bends & copes with anything you throw at it.
Tell me, what cars can claim to do that?
Owning a Range Rover in today's climate is questionable, but when you actually need a car with a considerable amount of space and lots of torque, then I think it's justified. My Range Rover has rarely let me down in over 6 years of ownership, and while it does cost me an arm and a leg to run, i wouldn't change it for anything from BMW or Audi.
One of the best aspects of the Range Rover 3.0 TD6 is probably the sound system. It's a Harmond Cardon system and it's incredible. You get huge bass, lots of clarity and quite a bit of customisation. Inside, there's lots of lovely leather and wood - the Range Rover has one of the best interiors on sale today. Fact.
Outside, it still looks good even though it's getting on a bit. It's big, chunky and full of character - something the Germans can't buy for nothing. If you want pure power, there's a 5.0-litre V8 option, but I'm not that rich so I left that box unticked.
Basically, if you want a car that appeals to everyone, then this isn't it. But if you want a car that you can use in every situation, then the Range Rover 3.0 Diesel is the motor for you.
The Range Rover Vogue TDV8 is a massive beast of a car, and a bit of a 4x4 classic. The term 'Range Rover' has become a general name for anything you see off road and there's a reason for that - it's a great car and it is incredibly capable. It's a bit of luxury and has some real finesse.
However I have found it really to be too big. The Land Rover Range Rover seems now to be a car of status rather than practicality like it used to be. It's incredibly comfortable, it runs well, it's pretty reliable and it has all the important features of a 4x4. However there arne other 4x4s that simply do a better job these days.
4x4s have been improved since the Range Rover in lots of ways: the are less bulky, infinitely more efficient, more refined, just generally less vulgar all round. So yeah, buy a Range Rover if you want a Range Rover. But if you want a 4x4, look elsewhere - there are better ones out there in my opinion.
Buying a 4x4 in today's market is difficult. You've got so much to choose from; there's X5s, Land Cruisers, Rav 4s and then there's the Range Rover. Without question it's the best of the bunch. There' more space inside than any big 4x4, there's so many gadgets that even Gadget Man would be impressed and the performance of the engine is truly awe-inspiring.
Economy on my Range Rover Autobiography 4.2 V8 is rubbish - i struggle to hit over 18mpg - but I don't mind too much, as it's all about the everyday experience. And the Range Rover delivers on this promise. The boot is one of the biggest I've ever seen, and the cushiony soft suspension manages to keep the kids comfortable on long haul journeys.
It's just a brilliant, superlative-worthy car.
I owned the Range Rover Supercharged from 2004-2008 and I loved every single moment. I can't think of a car that offers so much space, comfort, luxury and performance in the £60,000 price bracket.
The supercharged V8 performs like a stabbed rat, but still remains dosile enough around town. It really is a fantastic, if a little thirsty engine. If you want the V8, make sure your bank balance can handle it.
You'll be lucky to hit 17mpg, but my god, it's worth it. If all you want in a car is leather, wood and major power, the Range Rover is the perfect car for you.
Land Rover's replaced the old 3.6-litre lump with a futuristic new 4.4-litre TDV8 (eight-cylinder turbo diesel) that produces better performance while emitting less CO2. Great for someone who wants a 4X4 but still wants to be abit more friendly towards the environment.
Outstanding off-road performance, this car will go absolutely anywhere you drive it to. Something that amazes me up till today.
Luxurious and comfortable great for the long drive on the motorways. Great rear entertainment for my son.
However the carbon offsetting (£140 subscription) doesn't lower road tax.
Overall a great drive with a high price tag.
