Lexus SC430 - Comfort and style but quite dull after a while

I didn't really know the reputation that Lexus have got for making boring cars before I got this, but I understand it now having got the SC. First things first, this is an extremely well built car, very reliable, incredibly comfortable for this class, but... just doesn't drive anything like you'd expect from a car that looks like this. It accelerates pretty well, but I really don't think it gets the 6 seconds or whatever it is the brochure said. It's ok at speed but just a little bit flaky, not as hungry for the road as other sports cars, not as frantically grippy and just mad as you might want a car like this to be. It takes corners really quite badly as well, quite odd handling round the bends. Mild disappointments aside, as I said it is a good car, there's lots to like about it. Massive comfort in the SC, way better than the competition. The seats have all the usual stuff like heated underneath and things, but they're just way more plush all round than similar cars. They look a bit naff but you'll be laughing when you watch other people extracting themselves from their sports cars and stretching and moaning. The only down side for comfort is the back seats which really are a bit of an in joke, a lot like other similar cars in fairness. You'll get little kids back there, and those kid will no doubt be very impressed by everything, but not much else. The roof is really warm when it's up too, very good in winter chills, much better than a lot of convertibles. Takes a good long while to open up though, not much fun in the rain! The other trouble is that when the roof is tucked away the boot becomes pretty much non-existent. I've got a bit of a gripe about the sat nav display. I've also got a Volvo and that's got the satnav built into the top of the dash, so it pops up pretty much into your line of sight so you can see it easily while driving, but in the SC the satnav display is in the central panel, so you have to pretty much take your eyes really off the road to work out what's what. That's not fun at speed, really requires you to slow down. Otherwise the interior is pretty neat, but just ever so slightly tacky. I mean it is a classy car and all that, but some of the buttons just look a little bit ordinary. Just a little bit. It doesn't give much relief in terms of costs either, I get about 30 MPG on motorways, quite a bit less round town. Insurance etc to similar cars, pretty much top whack as far as I recall. Basically what I'm saying is that the SC is for you if you want a sporty looking car but really need the comfort of a family saloon. There isn't really much else to sell it above other sports cars.
