My favourite bits about the Mazda 2 are the smallness and the good looks. I think it is also quite a nippy little car, you can certainly take it to national speed limit on the motorway fairly quickly for a small car and it rides comfortably at such speeds as well, if a little on the noisy side. What is also nice is that its good round town as well, its very easy to drive and a nice place to sit. I think it also handles quite well.
The other amazing thing is the amount of space inside, the Mazda 2 is actually huge! Even more amazing because it is actually a compact supermini. Space in the rear is quite good but probably not very comfortable on a long journey for a six-footer. The seats are comfy and everything seems to work very well. It looks modern on the inside as well.
In summary, it does everything I need it to do and it does all of these things well, the running costs are also very cheap so thats a further thumbs up. I'd really recommend this car.
So the car is based on the floor plan as the blue oval competitor, however much cheaper and in my opinion much better to look at. The car is sporty and pulls well and has great handling. Great on the back roads and fine as a cruiser. The top of the range sport model has all the extras such as cruise control which comes in great use on longer trips.
Hi guys, my names Melissa and I own a Mazda 2 in green. He's my first car and I love him dearly, so don't expect any negative comments on his review. I bought him for 7 grand second hand last year and haven't regretted it once. My boyfriend loves him and loves to drive him when i let him. It's just a really easy car to drive and everything from the clutch to the steering is nice and light.
The speakers aren't the loudest, so if you're a young en like me you'll probably want to swap the system for something like a Sony unit. Everything else is fine, though. The seats are comfy, the plastics are ok and the gearbox feels nice to use.
The suspension is just right, as it doesn't bounce too much but it's not so hard that you end up wanting to kill yourself on the motorway. Fuel economy is great as it only has a little engine and a little bum to move about, so the price of fuel doesn't really bother me too much.
Overall my Mazda 2 is a good little car ;)

It's probably not the best move to see that a car got car of the year and let that influence your decision. What it means is that it's good to drive and good on paper but doesn't say a single thing about how it's going to perform after that year! It's not been horrendous but we have had some nasty surprises. The brakes got noisy after about 10 thousand miles, that seemed very sudden. The plastic bits on the inside of the car have not fared all that well, kids have got lots of it loose already. That doesn't bode well for the future. None of this is a disaster but it is a bit of a let down.
That's enough moaning! The Mazda 2 1.3 TS is a good car really, it's nice and safe for a small family and, other than these little problems has been very reliable for three years so far. It doesn't quite get the 52 miles a gallon it promises but quite close, so it's a lot better than many cars out there. It's got plenty of space too, quite a surprise for the size of it. We had a Micra before and adults in the back were always cramped up like sardines. The 2 is lots better. It's not a limo but it's lots better. We've had my parents and our little girl in there before without a problem. I don't think it would fit three adults though. It's not exactly the most comfy over bumps, that's the only real problem. That and it gets a bit whooshy and noisy on the motorway. But for long journeys on good road it is very comfortable.
For storing things in teh Mazda 2 there's some clever ideas. The glove box has two compartments, clever little open bit at the top for things you need easier access to. The dashboard is a bit useless as it's just at quite a steep angle and you can't put anything on it. The boot is a pretty normal sort of size but I do have trouble getting a pram in and out because of the ridge round the back of the boot, you have to lug it over that and drop into the boot. I would really prefer a car that had a flat surface into the boot.
I mostly enjoy driving the Mazda 2. I don't have many sort of everyday problems like sticky gears. The clutch is a bit of an acquired taste but that's the case with many cars I'd say. The back windows are a little bit too small which makes visibility a bit less good than it could be, but generally it's fine.
The 3 doors make it a bit of a job getting my parents in and out. We don't transport them much but if we did, or if we had older kids, we would probably want the 5 door version but in terms of size it's perfectly adequate.
So excited by this car, still, and I've had it for ages now. It looks great, it drives great, it even sounds great. It's cheap, cheap, cheap but it feels like it's a really good quality car to me. Honestly, I couldn't recommend it more.
Take the Mazda 2 around town and you'll feel like you're in a nippy little toy car outrunning everything on the road. Of course that means it's not very big. A bit of a drawback if you've got kids or whatever. But to be honest I wouldn't let any kids with their sticky fingers on MY upholstery!
It's safe and secure, comfy, and the best thing of all is the price. I mean, by my standards it was pretty expensive but comparatively the price holds up pretty well. The tax and insurance were a bargain and the little beast gets great miles-per-gallon. BUY ONE!
I have recently bought a Mazda 2 and must say it is one of the best cars I've drove. The feel on the road is great and the steering is great.
The look of the car is also great value for the price of the car. I have the basic model but the interior is still very good and the finish is great.
