Netcars Need To Know: Credit to Nissan. It was the first big car company to twig that the cars we'd become accustomed to buying for years were getting outdated. Customers didn't want an Almera if they could have a Qashqai and they preferred X-TRAILs to Primeras. Since then, the range has exploded in new and exciting directions from the LEAF electric car right through to the explosive GT-R coupe. So where should used buyers be looking? For real bargains, they should be looking at Primeras and Almeras. Nissan might have given up on these cars, but they still make great used buys and work for a good section of the population. Even the wildly popular Qashqais have become something of a victim of their own ubiquity, with used values not as strong as they could be as a result. The launch of the 370Z couldn't have been timed much worse, and as a result sales of this car have been rather sticky, so bargains are available. Its predecessor, the pretty 350Z is another used car that retains a ton of appeal for the enthusiast driver and these are starting to look very good buys. Beware of poorly-specified Japanese imports though. The Note has been rather overlooked and makes a brilliant vehicle for older drivers, especially when teamed with an automatic transmission. The latest Micra is a rather forgettable thing, not a comment that can be levelled at the GT-R. Early 2008 cars are now starting to nudge towards £35,000 but bear in mind that with supercar performance come supercar running costs.

I'm a big Nissan fan, all Japanese cars actually (and films, and food, but that's another story). Over the years I've owned eight Nissans and I was just starting to think that they were beginn...
The thing that makes this stand out from the crowd (much like my 370Z I've currently got) is the incredible value for money. You get performance that you just can't buy anywhere else for the s...
