Netcars Need To Know: It's reassuring to see Peugeot come good again. For a few years in the Noughties, it seemed that the marque had lost its way. Questionable styling decisions were compounded by so-so reliability and the loss of the wondrous ride quality that so endeared many Peugeot models to British buyers. The 206 sold well but was never a good car. The 307 and 407 models were never approaching class-leading. While the revival in Peugeot's range is great news for new buyers, those looking for a used Peugeot may well have to tread carefully to avoid being lumbered with a duffer. Buy as new as you can afford, as all of the current range of cars are very good. The one model that you can buy without too many worries at all is the little 107, a rugged city car that while just starting to look slightly off the pace, nevertheless makes a cracking used buy. At the other end of the range, the 508 has established itself nicely as a far superior offering than the 407, while the RCZ is in strong demand. Try finding one for less than £16,000. It's worth looking at the cars that generate less headlines but are nevertheless extremely good and prime contender here is the 5008 MPV. It may not look the sassiest car on the block but it drives well, is extremely well equipped and very practical. Get one with the 1.6 HDI diesel engine and you'll have an extremely clean and economical MPV for as little as £11,500 on an 09 plate.

The model I had was the 1.9TD LX Sedan. Overall I was somewhat satisfied with this car. Initially the appearance did put me off. Especially in silver, this car did seem about as well propor...
For those searching for a cheap, diesel run around. Please do look elsewhere, or buy a bus pass. The Peugeot 106 diesel has not one single redeeming feature for itself. Firstly, it looks ab...
