Peugeot 206 - Good enough for us

Hey, we have a Peugeot 206 1.4. It was bought during this recession because we had a 4x4 that was just eating petrol like nothing you've ever seen before. So while this is a downgrade, it isn't forever. It's been a decent little car, if I'm honest. Considering it's French, it's quite reliable and hasn't fell to pieces just yet. We're probably going to be keeping it for a good year more, so hopefully it'll stay in one piece until then. We've had to change all the tyres, which cost around £250, but that wasn't really the cars fault, more so ours for our aggressive driving. Inside, it's a good car. Nicely laid out and has a decent amount of room. We got the five-door option as that gave us even more room than the 3-door. It's a good little car for someone with a small family, but if you need serious space, I couldn't recommend it.

Peugeot 206 1.4 Quiksilver 3dr [AC] (2001)
Peugeot 206 1.4 Quicksilver Review - Reliable, Comfortable and Stylish

I owned a 206 1.4 quiksilver for 4 years and it never put a foot wrong; very reliable. The 206 1.4 quiksilver is also very comfortable, yet handles superbly. The interior trim is styling, with the quiksilver symbol covering the seats and interior panels. This car is a fantastic first car; cheep insurance, cheep road tax and superb looks. The only negative points are the low powered engine (75 BHP) and the fuel consumption is not that good. On the daily commute to work, I only got 28mpg average. This is probably because of the lack of power requiring the engine to be worked harder. If you are looking for a quiksilver, this is a very good car, but I would recommend you look for a later version with the 16 valve engine (90BHP) and body coloured bumpers.

Peugeot 206 2.0 GTi 180 3dr [DAC+CC] (2003)
Peugeot 206 GTi Review - Fantastically Schizophrenic

I have owned a 206 GTI 180 for the last 3 years and I can honestly say I absolutely love it. Unlike other hot hatches in this category, the styling is subtle, the interior is very comfortable with racing bucket seats, the build quality is superb and the car in well equipped as standard. But the best feature of this car is the engine. Adding VVT to this engine has made it fantastically schizophrenic. Below 4000rpm and the car is tame, but with plenty of low down torque to make driving very easy and economical. Above 4000rpm and the engine transforms from an easy going cruiser, to a street racer that loves to rev. No matter what age you are, this car will put a smile on your face, and for me, that is what I look for in a car.

Peugeot 206 1.1 Fever 3dr (2003)
Peugeot 206 - Good second car

Never let me down once in the year I've owned it. It's been a faithful friend and one that I've shared quite a few memories in. As far as petrol goes, it's half decent. I'd say the engine technology is quite old so the tax is higher than modern cars, but it's good with MPG. My girlfriend never moans about the space inside, so it must be pretty good. the boot isn't huge, so don't expect copious amounts of practicality. It looks great and does what it says on the tin.

A good second car; still reliable

Had the 206 for about a year now and it was my second car after I traded in a Vauxhall Corsa. In comparison to the Corsa, it's not even in the same league. The 206 is a much better car. It's easier to drive, is better on petrol and looks a lot nicer. Inside, it's very plasticy, but it's a small hatch, so what do you expect? There's plenty of room for kids - when i have them - and the boot is just about big enough. Never let me down yet and looks cool enough for my friends. So I'm happy.

What a nightmare!!!

I don't know where to start with this car...... My dad bought this car from new and I shared it with him. From getting the car the brakes squeaked really loudly, we were told that it was normal and they all did this! After a few months the electric windows stopped working and we had a problem with the indicators not working, The car was quite small and cramped inside and I could never get in a comfortable position whilst driving. The interior is quite basic and I felt looked a bit cheap. The cars positives would be that it was good on petrol, good boot size and that from the outside it looks good. I wouldn't want to recommend it to anyone.

Spacious on the inside for a relatively small car

I found that the drivers area was spacious and the seats supported me very well. Even the boot and rear space is roomy so I could put a lot of my costumes and accesories easily. Very versatile. The car was very easy to drive with the pedals offering up just enough resistance not to feel soft. The steering was pretty good as was the road handling. Bad points: There was a limited choice of colours to choose from. Lack of power when driving on steeper grounds.
