Peugeot Expert Tepee 1.6 HDi L2 Comfort 5dr [9 seats] (2007)
Peugeot Tepee - Spacious but too many repairs

With five kids and their friends your choices are a bit limited. It was basically the Expert Teepee or a Caravelle. We went with this in the end pretty much because we'd had Peugeots before and they'd been fine, but I think that was back in the day that they were quite simple cars. They don't seem to have done so well at putting together more complicated machines, because this one at least has had just a few too many repairs need doing. Now, fair enough we do drive it a lot. It's about four years old and we've already done nearly 100 thousand miles on it, but it's a big work horse, you expect it to handle that sort of thing. The anti roll bars have needed doing because of some design fault (not reassuring). The suspension housings or whatever they're called had to be done. The clutch we've had done twice, once inside the warranty, once outside (that is expensive labour wise). Most of it has been done in the warranty, but it really doesn't fill me with confidence about it longer term. I'd sell it more easily but for the fact I bought it new and the depreciation is quite steep - probably worse for ours because of the miles it's done. Aaaaaaanyway, I think I'm moaning a bit too much. When it's working (and in fairness that is most of the time) it's a grand family car. Nine seats makes it basically a minibus, and the sliding doors are fantastic for car parks and tight spots. It also makes it much better when you're out camping cos you can leave the doors open all day and they don't take up any room on the camping spot. The boot is just about big enough for a family of seven to go away for a day, but for camping trips we ended up getting a roof rack first, then a trailer later. It didn't have any trouble pulling all that though. The Peugeot Expert Tepee is a bit thirsty for fuel but fair enough really it is a house on wheels. We live in a bungalow and we often refer to the Teepee as the house :) Inside is just a cavern, we could camp inside it without any tents, but the kids seem to like messing about with tents as well. Even with all the space in there it has other clever space saving bits, like the hand brake it tucked in between the door and the driver seat, clever! - although it can be a bit tricky to reach sometimes. It's good the way the satnav display extends out the top of the dash, that's better than other ones I've seen in other cars where it's way down in the central panel, so you have to look well away from the road to see the display, which is a bit daft. The stereo I have to say I find a bit fiddly. I think it might be my fat fingers, but it needs attention if you're test driving. The tax bill is also a bit of a grind at £245, but again it's an enormous vehicle so I'm not sure you'd get so much moving space for less.
