The Seat Altea is a compact MPV launched in 2004 that looks like a cross between a multi-purpose vehicle and a sporty hatchback; you'll either love or hate its looks. Since its launch when over 30,000 units were sold in its first year there have been a few updates, the biggest one being the launch of the 4 wheel drive Seat Altea Freetrack in 2007. There are plenty of engine sizes to choose from also - in the petrol engine range you can choose from a 1.2 litre all the way to a 2.0 litre and the diesel engines range from a 1.6 litre to a 2.0 diesel engine. Here are some of the pros and cons to help you decide if this model is for you: • you will either love or hate the oval grille and the large tailgate on the Seat Altea; • lots of space in both the front and the back; • the Seat Altea has achieved a 5 Star Euro NCAP rating; • plenty of room for five passengers to travel in comfort; • plenty of storage space throughout the cabin with under floor storage in the boot; • there is little problem with body roll; • steering on all Seat Altea models is very responsive; • the 2.o litre engine Seat Altea takes 8.2 seconds to reach 62 MPH; • the Seat Altea reaches a top speed of 129 MPH; • you may get up to 45.6 MPG; • the Seat Altea comes fitted with six airbags in total and emergency braking assistance; • air conditioning is fitted as standard, along with electric windows and cruise control. The Seat Altea is a very fun drive and can be summed up as being a family orientated 5 seater; it provides comfort and it performs well. Running & Maintenance costs are also described as relatively cheap.
