Suzuki Jimny 1.3 JLX 3dr (1998)
Suzuki Jimny - Fun little/big car, but pretty noisy and not all that comfy

It's fun, really a fun little car (which thinks it's big) to drive. BUT... really got some practicality issues. I got my Jimny for five grand at three years old, which I thought was really good value. It's a good looking car as well, nice and shiny and kind of beefy looking but also cute at the same time. It makes me smile to look at. It's also been really really reliable for me. I must have had it for over seven years now (wow...) and it's only had a few things need doing. The man at the garage always says how reliable these are, and always says how well my little baby is doing. I can't see any rust anywhere either, which is a big plus for a car as it gets older. Now, there are some definite problems with the Suzuki Jimny that it's only fair to mention. The thing that probably bothers me most, and most often, is the boot. It's really just tiny and silly, I mean particularly for a car that looks like it's kinda big, the boot is really really not big. I can get shopping in there for me and my other half, just, but he complains that it won't fit all his surfing gear in. Mind you the rear seats do fold down easily enough, so you can make it quite a bit bigger, although obviously then it's just a two seater. Another thing that gets to me about the car is that the rear bumper is just, well, really big! It actually makes it quite a lean to get into the boot, so that might mean it's a good thing that the boot is so small! In the back seats there really just isn't much space. I mean my younger sister is quite a bit taller than me, and she always complains about being in the back. The head room is ok, but the leg space is really not good, very cramped up. Up front it's pretty much ok. Some of the buttons are in silly places though. The hazard light button is right next to the air vents, so I've hit that a few times before when I've just been wanting to change the direction of the air flow. That can be really annoying, and might be a bit dangerous if you confuse other people with it. There's a nice space by the gearbox though, for keys and things. I like that. It's good fun to drive too. You're really high up so you can see all around really nicely. And it gets pretty good mileage, although some of my friends have got newer small cars and they seem to do a lot better when we've gone on trips away together. The top speed is a little bit of a let down, it just gets past 90 downhill, but really, when you're so high up it does feel a lot faster. Like I said it's a fun car to drive. But it does get REALLY NOISY when you get up to speed on the motorways, which is hard going if you're trying to have a chat. I think the steering could be a bit better too. I've driven friends cars and they do feel a whole lot lighter to steer than mine. It's just the age of the car I think. It is a good laugh the Suzuki Jimny, even if it has a few problems here and there. And the reliability means it'll be good for some years to come I think (hope!).
