Country & Base – Germany – Wolfsburg Key Models:
Netcars Need To Know: You're probably quite well acquainted with Volkswagen's wares. After all, it's a company that seems to stick to fairly well-defined product niches. When it does veer away from the norm, as it did with the Golf Plus, buyers tend to get a little wary. There's something to be said for doing the conventional thing very well indeed and nobody does it better than VW. Unfortunately this thinking in straight lines means largely predictable deals for used buyers. Everybody knows the prices of Polos, Golfs and Passats. There aren't many surprises or bargains to be had. That doesn't mean that there aren't recommendations to be made. The Mk V Golf GTI is a great buy. Drive one back to back with a MK VI and you may even conclude that it's a better car than its successor. Take a look at the boot mechanisms. The Mk 5 has an all metal, microswitched and damped unit. The Mk 6 makes do with a plastic item with no damping. It's a less expensive car to build than the lauded Mk V. You know what to do. It's at the fringes of Volkswagen's range that the real bargains are to be found. The Phaeton has always been undervalued and this model, built as well as a Bentley, is worth a look. With beautiful 3.0-litre TDI diesel models available from around £8,000 it seems a no-brainer if you're looking for refined and luxurious transport. The Tiguan is another vehicle that looks good value from a used perspective. After a modern classic? Try a late Corrado VR6. £3,000 will net you a good one.
It was this or a Scirocco and I decided the extra over the Scirocco would be worth it and I think I was pretty much right. It's such a refined ride, no matter what you do with it, or at wha...
I’ll kick off with the biggest problem: the two additional rear-most seats are a £500 option. We have found them very useful for carting the kids and friends around, I struggle to see why you ...
Very reliable. Great all rounder for everyone.
